Niemelä is a forest estate of 60 hectares, situated in the village of Nurmijärvi in Lieksa, Finland. It consists of a valuable forest with a wide variety of trees offering a healthy living space for many different kinds of species.

A forest area covering 60 hectares of land

The estate contains 13,000 solid cubic metres of forest valued at nearly €1,000,000. This
consists mostly of mature and old-growth trees.

A beautiful conservation area

The estate has been voluntarily made into a beautiful conservation area. Forest felling may be carried out on the estate for research purposes by obtaining permission from the Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres).

A healthy forest area

This is a healthy forest area that provides a habitat and shelter for many different species, maintaining biodiversity.
